Students of Brain Research 2015 Student Symposium

Students of Brain Research (SOBR) are proud to present the annual SOBR Student Symposium. This year the symposium will be held at Swinburne University’s Advanced Technology Centre on the 23rd of November.

Professor Murat Yücel (Director of Brain & Mental Health Laboratory, School of Psychological Sciences, Monash University) and Dr Marguerite Evans-Galea (Senior Research Officer, Bruce Lefroy Centre, Murdoch Childrens Research Institute) are the two plenary speakers for the event.

The day will include student talks, poster sessions, and free lunch.

Australasian Cochrane Symposium: registrations now open

Registrations are now open for this year’s Australasian Cochrane Symposium, to be held on 25-26 November in Melbourne. The two-day program features an engaging and informative mix of speakers, topics, workshops and plenaries that will explore contemporary issues affecting the evidence community.

Keynote speakers including David Tovey, Lisa Bero, Ray Moynihan and Julian Higgins will share their insights on how the evidence community can best generate and communicate evidence to achieve the shared goals of supporting the translation of research into policy and practice, encouraging informed decision-making and improving health outcomes.

Infectious Diseases research symposium hosted by Burnet Institute

Come and hear from Australia’s leading researchers about the latest advances in the fields of HIV, malaria, tuberculosis and hepatitis.

With recent significant progress towards better prevention, treatment and cure of these conditions, these are exciting times for researchers and the broader community. However, there are also major challenges to disease control, cure, and elimination, including the alarming spread of drug resistance.

Speakers will share the latest advances from basic science, epidemiology, population health and translational science towards vaccine, diagnostic and therapeutic development.

International cancer research symposia

Monash University's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology will be hosting an international cancer research symposia held in memory of the late Professor Martin Lackmann, entitled ‘Cell Signalling and its Therapeutic Implications’ at Peppers Moonah Links Resort in the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia between Wednesday 20th and Friday 22nd May 2015. As part of this year’s Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR) Medical Research Week® in Victoria, we are proud to present the 6th ASMR Victoria Student Research Symposium

When: Friday 15th May 

Where: Royal Melbourne Hospital.

An exciting all day showcase symposium for all Victorian medical research students (UROP, Honours, Masters, PhD, and more) to present their work, listen to some of Victoria’s top medical researchers, and network in a friendly environment! During the symposium, research students participate in oral, “3-minute-thesis” styled oral, and poster presentations in ALL disciplines of medical research.

For each educational level, many prizes and awards are given including a ticket to the prestigious ASMR GALA dinner, where the awardee will have an opportunity to dine with well-known researchers.
