The PACTS Project to create an online violence education for healthcare students: Difficult and rewarding beyond expectations

In 2009 a group of Monash University educators from the School of Primary Health Care first met to brainstorm the development of an inter-professional model for educating future health professionals. 

At that time the Australian National Plan to reduce violence against women and their children had just been published. This presentation describes the challenges and successes to the project team as they applied for grants, developed the resources and modules, and learned that everything takes much longer than you think, is more difficult than imagined, but is also infinitely more rewarding. 

The challenges of developing materials that engage students while minimising the potential for trauma when learning about family violence as well as the ‘appropriateness’ of an e-learning format will be discussed.
