His development of iodized oil injections improved the quality of life for billions of people.
Prof Jane Fisher, Prof Hetzel's stepdaughter, is the director of the Jean Hailes Research Unit which specialises in women's health, and her daughter Dr Rosie Dwyer is a registrar in emergency medicine.
