‘Being a Brain Surgeon: What is it like?’

As a brain surgeon Professor Rosenfeld specialises in cerebrovascular surgery (aneurysms and arterio-venous malformations), brain tumour and skull base surgery and minimal access and neuro-endoscopic surgery. As a brain scientist, his main research interests are traumatic brain injury and bionic vision. He is one of Australia’s leading academic neurosurgeons and senior military surgeons and is internationally recognised for his neurotrauma research and teaching.

Amongst many other leadership, teaching and committee positions, he is currently Professor and Head, Department of Surgery, Central Clinical School, Monash University, Professor/Director of Neurosurgery at the Alfred Hospital and Pro-Vice Chancellor Advancement (Major Projects) at Monash University.
